Let’s be clear about this. The Pill shuts down

Let’s be clear about this.

The Pill shuts down your ovulation every month (whether you take the sugar pills or not).

The “period” you get every month if you take the sugar pills is called a “withdrawal bleed” (as your uterine lining will shed when you stop taking the synthetic progestin in the active pills) and the only reason the pill is designed this way is to mimic a “real” period.

What the Pill is NOT doing is helping you regulate your hormones, fixing your irregular period, resolving your PCOS, endometriosis or peri-menopausal transition.

It IS fab at masking symptoms (and for contraception). And it can be the right choice for a key subset of women. It’s always your choice.

It is NOT fab for getting to the root cause of your hormones or health issues or in fact improving them (ie, it can block absorption of key B-vitamins needed for follicle health and worsen the insulin resistance that could be causing your PCOS in the first place.)

So when you come off the Pill and want to start a family, could the very drug you were prescribed to”regulate your cycle” or “fix your PCOS” actually have worsened your chances falling pregnant?

A few weeks ago, my client jokingly said her friend had asked, “What sorcery is going on? You look amazing!’

❗️Spoiler alert: nothing, at least nothing requiring a book of spells.

My client was stoked because it used to be her searching for the magic energy/sleep/skin solution that would gift her elusive spark back as she confronted her 6.30am under-eye bags while routinely downing a double-shot to get her out the door.

❤️ So here’s how she became the woman who:

➡️ Wakes up feeling refreshed and full of energy.

➡️ Has glowing skin that makes her look years younger.

➡️ Feels stronger than ever—without punishing diets (or cutting out chocolate)

1. She started an anti-inflammatory diet with a high-protein breakfast to boost her energy and reduce her afternoon sugar cravings.
